Grain are excited to announce the launch of our new sliding sash supply and fit service. If you have sliding sashes that need replacing, Grain can supply and fit UK hand built Accoya sliding sashes within the original box frame and without any need for internal decoration.

The Sashes

UK Hand built sliding sashes installed within the original box frame including renovated external sill, beading, lead counter balance weights, cotton sash cords, pulleys and furniture.

Built from rot resistant, moisture free Accoya which is rated for 60+ years.

Factory spray finished with a 3 coat weatherproof paint in a colour or stain of your choice.

The sliding sashes are BS644 compliant and have class 4 rated draft proofing.

The 0% moisture content ensures they will not expand and therefore will always slide effortlessly.

They are conservation approved and the original design can be replicated.

What are the Advantages?

Replacing the sliding sashes can be up to 50% cheaper than a full box replacement.

In most cases they can be installed within 1 day which means no lengthy and messy repair works.

There will be no damage to the existing decoration.

Order Process

If after receiving your free quotation you wish to proceed, the time frame from order to install is generally 8 – 10 weeks depending or order size.

The order will go to the workshop to be hand built, sprayed and glazed.

After this, the sashes will be delivered and installed.

Staged payments are required before the manufacture and spraying processes with the final balance paid after install.

Original Sliding Sashes Removed

The original sliding sashes are carefully removed allowing access to the box.

New Cords, Weights, Sill

The sill is renovated with rot resistant Accoya, new lead counterbalance weights are installed along with cotton sash cords and pulleys.

New Sliding Sashes

New sliding sashes are then installed into the original box frame along with all associated beading and furniture.
